Hello, I’m Andrew Pauluhn; father, husband, software engineer, HAM and skier/snowboarder.

I’m curious

I’m driven by curiosity and my skills are a natural side effect of wanting to learn new things. Curiosity can get you started but determination sustains you when it gets difficult. I’m comfortable wrestling with things that don’t yield easily.

What I’m interested in now

I have ongoing experiments with data-structures and algorithms. I’m also having fun with some niche programming languages. I enjoy building tools for myself that I can use to get things done - some include notification services, market monitoring bots and RFI geo-mapping. Of course every developer’s favorite past time - refining and improving my development tools and setup is always something I’m working at.

I self-host quite a few services because I value privacy, control and it keeps those skills brushed up.

My generalist approach allows me to adapt to a wide range of projects and domains.

Background

I’m a versatile, self-employed consultant with a passion for solving complex technical problems. My recent work has been specializing in high-performance, ultra-reliable Rust services.

I’ve worked in diverse business domains, with varied technologies, please check out my linked in for more details. The one consistent element in all my work are the relationships built. Learning how to work with different people is one of the greatest gifts to yourself. Learning who you are is right up there with it. Every project is about the people, not the technology.
